well, i finally got round to taking some measurements of the quad frame and the GPZ 500 twin. it aint gonna work folk. the gap between the swingarm pivot and front down tubes is 12 inches, 500 is 16 inches and would require some real serious engineering to the quad frame. really peeved. GPZ lump will now be used to fund a smaller (external dimensions) engine, and a TAPE MEASURE. so now going back to the salvage yard to see what they have in the way of matchbox muscle...

Hi Mate,

The 320 frame is much larger in the engine side of things. Can take some measurements if it helps tomorrow mate. Its pretty epic the amount of space there is tbh.

Here's a picture of my engine etc:

As above though, can measure it all up tomorrow if that helps.

smart quad mate. looks like they used a completely new frame for the 320 apache. been looking at a picture of a suzuki gs 400 twin but need to get a tape measure to it. pity there aint a site where i can check out these things. So anyone out there got a GS500 and a tape measure...
Height not really a problem, available space from front downtubes to the swingarm link is just 12"

THE HUNT GOES ON...

Thanks Buddy,

The bad news is that I think the GS500 is going to be too big as well. Here is the engine of my old GS550 Katana, not measured it but pretty certain its bigger than 12".

i would really appreciate if you could measure the KLR 650 single for me bro, as i said earlier it needs to be no more than 12" from the front of the crankcase to the rear of the gearbox. picture of it would be nice, if possible.

ok its the full bike, the engine is out and
was running fine when in the bike and
goes like stink, i think mileage is around 14000.
i made sure everything was fine with it
before i removed it as i was going to put it in my apache.
the only reason i didnt was cause i got the ds650x
id like 200 for the complete bike
as when ya taken off what ya need you will
be able the sell the frame and forks and wheels
and whats left on ebay for about 100
