The 2008 4x4 champion has only ridden his Renegade twice since winning the title but looked back at home taking this race win. Hopefully this is the start of a season that will lead to him regaining his title.

Well for the hardy racers that braved the weather and the roads on Sunday morning for the start of the QRA 2010 season they were greeted with a snowy wet and muddy track but Tony and his merry helpers had worked hard to get the day sorted.
After signing in with Gaynor it was time to line up for the staggered start with a quick pre race brief from the pie man who started the wacky racers on their way so the race was on. Experts were off and running with Mr Winrow on his new KTM stead along with his bright white riding gear( probably not the best choice Paul unless Daz have jumped on the sponsorship bandwagon??) The Clubman followed close behind with Andrew Kelly keen to impress and his freshly prepped Ltr sponsored by Kelly Quad Cleaning and Quadsuk.net.
The mighty 4x4 group got ready for the flag and it was Tim Clark who got the hole shot and powered into the woods closely followed by the other 5 in the group. As the racers settled into their rhythm the mud got churned up making the going hard for the sports quads but the 4x4’s seemed to be loving the conditions and were carving their way through the field. Williams was nibbling at the back of Clark but as the course open up Williams and Simon Lang on his new Grizzly turned up the wick across the whooped out field and began to battle it out for the top spot. As the time ticked away several riders decided they liked the wooded areas a lot and seemed to put racing on the back burner and became eco friendly with quite a few becoming TREE Huggers!!!
Unfortunately even though the muddy conditions had made the racers look like Swampy this new found love for the environment made more than one quad convert to a Trike after some tree hugging encounter’s at speed!
The field had dwindled down to only 20 riders after the two hour mark with even the Mighty Winrow registering an uncustomary DNF . Williams was still leading the 4x4 class but hard charging Clark was on a mission and after chasing down the 2008 champ through woods Clark made his move and hit the gas as the track opened up and rocketed into the lead. Then as Clark hit one of the many whoops he Rocketed into outer space landing badly and handing the lead back to Williams who kept a steady pace to finish in top spot ahead of the charging Lang with the now limping Clark bringing up the rear in 3rd.
Clint Eagle bagged no1 spot with an impressive 18 laps with Williams 5th Lang 6th and Clark 7th overall all on 16 laps on the mighty 4x4’s who seemed at home in the wintery conditions. A great day was had by all and The QRA had done a great job despite the weather trying to hamper the day’s events, roll on the 1st round and 2010 is going to be the closest season ever if the 4x4’s are anything to go by.

He improved enough last year !
Has the New bike really made a BIG difference again ?
I've got no chance of hanging with him this year then !
Will he give you a run for your money ?
