Default Quazilla 500es brake problem

Hi All, This is my first post so here go's, just bought a 500 with 50 miles on the clock it's brand new and was stored for 1 year. I am having problems engaging the gears due to very spongy back brake. I found that the rear brake fluid container cap was split , so i repaired that and bleed the brakes with fresh fluid but still the brakes are spongy, any ideas? Thanks guy's in advance.

I had one of these quads and the back brake & parking brake were always pretty rubbish.

We had to loosen the parking brake off quite a bit for the gear selector to work, which left the parking brake pretty crappy.

Even with a new rear caliper the back brake was crap, luckily the front was good

The front and rear brakes are linked- did you bleed the fronts while you were at it?(the front brake has 2 seperate circuits one operated by a master cyl on the foot pedal and one operated by the hand lever)-so dont forget to top up the right resovoir.

There are three functions linked to the left handlebar lever and the pedal. One is a cable for the gear selector lock, the second for the park brake and the third is the front/rear hydraulic system.

The park brake is adjusted from the 13mm (?) nut at the end of the cable just above the rear caliper on the right rear side of the bike. If you over adjust it it affects the gear selector saftey thingy and you won't get reverse... this is not connected to the hydraulic brakes. Once you have the park brake set and the reverse selects OK you can adjust the left handlebar lever pull from the handle bare cable tensioner and at the other end where it attaches to the bake pedal, the cable stretches when new and you need to take out the slack.

The back brake is soft and more biased to the front to stop the rear wheels locking up too quickly when the weight transfers to the front.

That's sorted mine out. I thought it was the hydraulics too but the balance for the rear is crap so use the front brakes a bit with the foot peddle and it will stop really quick... Oh and a set of 27" bearclaws helps too :001_rolleyes
